From Senior Pastor:

What a joy it is to serve the Lord at Hopewell Baptist Church, with a body of believers working together to achieve our mission of “Advancing God’s Kingdom, One Heart At A Time”. We are a church that adequately teaches and preaches the Word of God, that will hold you accountable to your spiritual gifts, and provide places of ministry for you to use your gifts for the Lord.

God has called our church to “Raise the Standard”, Isaiah 59:19. We are in the eighth year of a 10-year vision.

Using the example of Elijah and Elisha, we establish mentor/mentee relationships for those wanting to be mentored in the Word and wanting to grow in their relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.

God spoke to me that the sun would never set on Hopewell Baptist Church; that twenty-four hours a day in the next ten years someone will be rising up to preach the gospel world-wide. In addition to giving to missions through the Southern Baptist Convention, we have missionaries going to Africa, India, Moldova, Ukraine, Washington DC, Costa Rica, and Mexico, out of Hopewell Baptist Church. Also, we have several local missions, benefiting our community.

We believe that prayer is the most important part in helping us be strong for the work ahead. We back everything up with prayer, beginning at home and going world-wide.

Last year God added 272 people to our family, 143 of those by salvation. Praise the Lord! As Senior Pastor of Hopewell Baptist Church, I am excited about what God is doing through our church body. You are always welcome to join us as we worship and serve the Lord!
Mentoring –II Kings 2:1-14
1 And it came to pass, when the LORD was about to take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.
...
...while the two of them stood by the Jordan.
8 Now Elijah took his mantle, rolled it up, and struck the water; and it was divided this way and that, so that the two of them crossed over on dry ground.
...
11 ...suddenly a chariot of fire appeared with horses of fire, and separated the two of them; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.
...
13 He also took up the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from him ....
14 Then he took the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from him, and struck the water, and said, “Where is the LORD God of Elijah?” And when he also had struck the water, it was divided this way and that; and Elisha crossed over.

Missions -Acts 1:8
8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me[a] in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Celebrating 200 Years of Ministry

March of 1808 the Baptists in the Hopewell community met to organize a church to be known as the Hopewell Bapist Church.  It was a young church for a young couty, because the United States was only 32 years old then.  (This was 37 years before the organization of the Southern Baptist Convention, which took place in Augusta, Georgia).  Through the years other congregations were formed from the church.  In 1884, Oak Grove Church was organized; later belmon, Calvary, and Poplar Springs were also founded.  The Chattahoochee Baptist Association (then called North Georgia Association) was organized at Hopewell in 1825.

We hope that this site will help keep you better informed on the happenings at our church.  We are committed to the ministry God has called us to and we are committed to you.  Please let us know how we can improve our site or what you like about it.  Check back often.  We will update it weekly.
